KINGSTON UNIVERSITY
Caroline Alexander, Senior Lecturer with the Dept of Fashion at Kingston University, visited IIAD as part of the ongoing IIAD-KU collaboration. Caroline was invited to conduct workshops on portfolio building with the IIAD students and initiate them into the requirements of a portfolio at the industry level. She stressed the importance of portfolio building in design education. For those who were interested in continuing their higher education she gave them insights into what to include in a portfolio and what faculty looks for in a portfolio at the university level. Brief Bio Caroline Alexander first joined Kingston School of Art, in 2005, as a Visiting Lecturer teaching Critical & Historical Studies to BA Fashion students across all levels. After a brief hiatus she returned to KSA in 2015, to take the post as a Senior Lecturer, teaching Fashion Design on the BA Fashion course. Ms Alexander is responsible for managing and cataloguing the Benenden Fashion Archive, a collection of men’s and women’s wear spanning the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, situated in the Department of Fashion. She has also been a contributor of articles on Fashion History, for the Bloomsbury Fashion Video Archive. Link
