Foundation in Design
Josh P. S is a young reputed contemporary artist. He secured a Bachelor’s Degree in Painting with distinction from College of Fine Arts Thiruvananthapuram, and a master’s degree from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. He has also received a Scholarship and Junior Fellowship in the field of visual arts from H.R.D. Ministry, Govt. of
India. Since 1999 he has been practicing as an Indian contemporary artist in New Delhi. He has exhibited in the major cities and reputed galleries of India.
His work moves among the trajectories of conceptual minimalism and realism. The sprawling body of work includes Painting, Sculptures, Archives, Photographs, Drawing, Multimedia installations, and Live Performative activities.
“Who owns Peacock Throne”- 2007 at Nature Morte, New Delhi; “Alone in the Crowd”- 2008, Bosepacia, Kolkatta and “Missing Links”- 2009, Galerie Mirchandani + Steinruecke are his well received solo shows, which brought him much acclaim as a young mainstream contemporary artist in India. He has participated in many Indian and
international art fairs and exhibitions and has broad private collections in India and abroad.

“Miscellaneous and the mute” -2020, at Gallery 1000A, New Delhi, “Performing History Machines” – Art Activities of Josh P.S. – 2018-19, at Draavidia gallery, Kochi, are his recently held solo shows. Josh has twenty five years of experience in teaching and he is consistently engaged in practice based research on social entity and cultural/political existence of visuals and visual languages, Archives, Historical and Excavation sites, Mines and Monuments.
