Title: Architecture in the Age of the Pandemic
Abstract: The video discusses the role that architects play in creating and shaping the built environment. The author imagines a post-pandemic era that would address the concerns of good health and well-being for human beings and the planet. In the video he points out that buildings should no longer be “glass clad solar cookers which then require extra tonnages of air-conditioning to make them barely livable. They should not generate pollutants and toxic fumes within them and should not add to the landfill sites.” There should instead be an increasing concern for designing intrinsically healthy buildings based upon the principles of “conservation, reuse and rejuvenation.”
