ORIENTATION DAY – 2022

New Delhi, 23rd July 2022 : Indian Institute of Art & Design (IIAD) organised its Orientation day at IIT, Delhi  for the new foundation batch 2022 on Saturday, 23rd July 2022. The programme included a full cohort for both undergraduate design programme and postgraduate Fashion Business Management (FBM) programme. It was attended by both students and parents.The Orientation Day commenced to help students’ transition into their new academic environment and align expectations to the values that IIAD upholds as an Institution.

Mr. Manish Tewari - Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha as chief guest, graced the occasion with his presence. Dignitaries from IIAD, Dr Jitin Chadha-Founder & CEO, IIAD, Professor Usha Patel-Director, Academics, IIAD, Ajit Chadha-Chairman, IIAD along with other course leaders, professors and lecturers were also present at the event to formally welcome the students and their families into the IIAD community and acquaint them with the prerequisites before they embark on their journey. 

The event was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest Mr. Manish Tewari followed by Mr Ajit Chadha, Dr. Jitin Chadha and Prof. Usha Patel.

The Orientation began with the welcome note by Dr. Jitin Chadha. While addressing the students and parents he said, “Everyday will be a new challenge and an opportunity to learn. In these coming 4 years you'll be taught to design-redesign, imagine-reimagine, invent-reinvent.” With this note Dr. Chadha wished all the students with -“Hope you create a strong foundation for yourselves and become the best of the future designers.”

Chief Guest, Mr Manish Tewari, shared insights into the future of work as It is going to be defined by innovation, creativity and design thinking.Addressing the gathering, he said, “I'm glad that students have chosen to pursue design which is beyond the traditional disciplines in India and I am sure post your design education you all will not only become better human beings but also be able to make a better society for future generations.”

The orientation day also included a moving speech by the Dean-Academics, Professor Usha Patel where she congratulated all the parents for supporting the young students to pursue design and spoke about design as an integral part of our existence. She also addressed the students and said,  “you all are inspirers, have faith in yourself, believe in yourself and soon you will realise you have the ability to transform the world.”

The final phase of the programme ended with the new batch of students being introduced to the Faculty and Staff members of IIAD by Ms. Simrat Joshi - Chief Operating Officer, Operations, IIAD.

Dr Sunita Gupta Konwar-Course Leader, Fashion Business Management, IIAD extended the vote of thanks to all dignitaries and IIAD members for their presence and contribution in making this ceremony a memorable one.

The event concluded with a great excitement and positivity as students looked forward to the year ahead and what it would entail.
