28th January 2023, the Indian Institute of Art & Design (IIAD) held its Convocation Ceremony at the India International Centre (IIC) on the 28th January 2023. The event was graced by the presence of many distinguished guests, including Ms Mandy Ure - Dean, Kingston School of Arts, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Sustainability & Inclusion, Kingston University and Mr. Damian Chapman - Head, School of Design, KSA, Kingston University.
It was a pleasure to welcome them at IIAD to celebrate the accomplishments of our graduates. Mr Ajit Chadha - Chairperson, Dr. Jitin Chadha - Founder & CEO, Professor Usha Patel - Director, Academics, IIAD, along with all course leaders, professors and lecturers attended the event to celebrate this moment of pride with IIAD’s graduating class of 2022.
The ceremony was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by Ms. Ure, Mr. Chapman, Mr. Ajit Chadha, Dr. Jitin Chadha and Prof. Usha Patel.
The Convocation began with the congratulatory speech by Dr. Jitin Chadha. Addressing the graduates, He expressed with pride, “Remember, you will always be an integral part of the IIAD family and IIAD is always there for you now and forever. Never hesitate to come back for help, support or for guidance.”
Prof. Usha Patel, Director of Academics, addressed the graduates and spoke about the hard work the students had put in to get to this point. She also referred to the opportunities that are available in the design domain. “In the modern economy, Design is one of the most dynamic sectors. This domain offers many different opportunities to students not just in terms of getting placements, but to be able to choose from a wide range of aligned fields and create space for themselves and others. She encouraged the graduates to use their knowledge and skills to make a positive impact on society.
Students of Communication Design, Fashion Design and Interior Architecture & Design from the batch 2018 - 2022 were awarded their degrees. Students who completed their Post Graduation in Fashion Business Management and Fashion Design in the year of 2022 were also awarded their master’s degree.
This was followed with an address by both Ms. Ure and Mr. Chapman congratulating the graduates on their hard work and wishing them all the best in their future endeavours.

You all have chosen to dedicate yourselves to continuing learning in this ever-changing field, and I am so proud of each and every one of you and I wish you all the best for our future endeavours.” Mr. Chapman, Head, School of Design, KSA, Kingston University.
The occasion was marked by a joyous atmosphere with families and friends cheering the graduates as they received their well-deserved degrees. Jessica Toppo from Fashion Business Management ( 2020 - 2022) and Aishwarya Shyam Kumar from Communication Design (2018 - 2022) also addressed the convocation sharing their journey throughout the graduating years and cherished the memories spent at IIAD.
The Convocation Ceremony ended with a group photo session. The group photos from the event perfectly capture the spirit of the day, from the proud smiles of the graduates to the happy tears of their loved ones. Overall, it was a day of pride and achievement for everyone involved with IIAD, and a great start to what is sure to be a bright future for our graduating students.
