Disruption is an impactful tsunami that has transformed all industries from technology to retail, and education is no exception. The education sector is still in recovery, analysing the damage done and lessons learned. During the global learning crisis, a lot has been done to at least reduce the impact through remote learning strategies. Remote learning is not only about online learning, but also developing the entire strategy for planned learning. It is also about understanding all the software tools to give a complete classroom experience and understanding of students' learning.
As education systems cope with this crisis, they must also think how they can recover stronger, with a renewed sense of responsibility and with a better understanding for all sectors. There is a sense of urgency and a need to close the gap in opportunities and ensure that all students have the same chance for quality education.
Despite all the uncertainties, higher education is confronted with increased expectations to make its contribution to innovation and advancement to benefit society tangibly, visibly and sustainably. Education leaders, Researchers and Practitioners represent a rich contribution to sustainable practices for development.
Many educational sectors have adopted innovations with opportunities to engage other sectors globally, thereby increasing digital literacy and maximising academic input. It has become important to provide new ideas/ concepts and incorporate them into the teaching and learning process. It not only benefits a positive educational system but it proves instrumental to create new opportunities for students in their lives.
The goal of innovations in education is to find proactive and positive approaches in disruptive times. Education for a sustainable future, empowers teachers and learners with the knowledge, skill sets and values to address the challenges that the planet faces.
