The Magic of Projection Mapping Makes its way to IIAD

Students of Communication Design Department Use Projection Mapping Techniques to Bring their Digital Narratives to Life

On, 19th March 2021, the auditorium at IIAD lit up with a kaleidoscope of visually enticing stories, with its first-ever projection mapping show for the campus.

The students of the Communication Design department presented a jaw-dropping visual feast with projection mapping, a 3D video projection technique using light and colors to project virtual images on irregularly-shaped and non-flat surfaces.

The digital narratives were part of a weeklong workshop-based project called “The Magic of Communication”, brought together by the Level-4 Communication Design Students and Aman Arora’s Magical Theatre. The dynamic and colorful show danced across the auditorium wall and the IIAD Logo.

The videos on display were created by five student teams.  Each team consisted of five students who worked on elaborating information regarding elements of illustration, art, photography, culture, music, and sound with technical support from the Magical Theatre team. A snapshot of each is given below.

A surrealistic take on an aspiring designer’s way of life, the challenges, conquests, failures, and wins, every day each day.With this show, the students and the department also hoped to evoke a feeling of creativity and renewal of a brighter future ahead after a long, tough year.
