Mr Gunjun Arora, Course Leader, Fashion Design at IIAD, along with Rahul Jain presented their work titled  “NYUUN” in the “ Fibre of lives'' art exhibition at the Gallery Art Positive on the 4th of March,2021.

There is deep thought behind these pieces of art - “We often in our sanity draw parallels between lives and lines, treading on the ever-changing textures of these lines that we think have begun to define our being. But when these threads-knotted, layered, stitched to each other, manage to speak of the many narratives in one verse we break new grounds in our mind spaces. The realisations that “what seems trapped may not be” or that the “fragility of our existence is as strong as the thread we hold” are as empowering as humbling.”

Threadarte” which began as an experiment in 2004 to deal with textile waste, has became the artists’ Gunjan Arora and Rahul Jain’s unique language.  It has evolved in forms and matured in its sensibility with time.The art form uses a technique that is unique in more ways than one. It involves the use of coloured and textured yarns, strips of artfully cut fabric, metallic threads and metals like Steel to create both abstract and figurative compositions. Over time it has kick started a movement where textile, fashion and yarn industries have started to contribute their excess / waste yarns, thus making this an environmentally friendly form of art.

The artists have applied this form of art to adorn walls as framed works, window art and creative art lighting. They have also been commissioned for large figurative Tapestries.

Gunjan and Rahul have 8 solo exhibitions and many group displays to their credit, the artists have their work on permanent display at many galleries in Delhi.Some of their works feature in prominent art collections and have been purchased by art lovers and connoisseurs like Ratan Tata, Eric Robert and the Late Sir Sean Connery.
